Designing a Home Office That Actually Works

Ergonomics, storage, lighting, and acoustics — the four decisions that turn a spare room into a focused studio.

Designing a Home Office That Actually Works

A good home office is not a desk against a wall. It is a calibrated room: posture, light, storage, and quiet all working together so you can think clearly for hours.

Start with the work surface. Built-in desks let you set height, depth, and cable routes precisely — and they look architectural rather than temporary.

Layer lighting: daylight where possible, a soft ambient wash, and a focused task light. Avoid a single harsh overhead that photographs poorly and fatigues the eyes.

Plan storage before screens. Closed cabinets keep visual noise down; open shelves should hold only what you want to see daily.

At RenFit we treat home offices as full interiors — materials, joinery, and acoustics considered as one composition.
